The Mass Calling Thresholds (MAS) request may be used by Network Service Providers (NSPs) and Service Control Pointer Owner/Operators (SCP O/Os) to set the call volume limits for all Toll-Free Numbers (TFNs) querying routing information from the Service Control Points (SCPs) under the specified Network ID. Please Note: To set up a call threshold limit for a specific TFN(s), please submit a Threshold Level Class (TLC) Override request.
In Step 1 of this request, please select the "Start Date/Time" and "End Date/Time" the SCPs will support the modified call volume limits. After entering the date and time range of the modified call volume limits, select whether all SCPs in the specified network will support the modified call volume limits. If "No" is selected, then settings will not be applied. To proceed with this request, please select the "Continue" button.
In Step 2 of this request, please specify the Threshold Level setting values for the surveillance and control for the threshold level of 15, based on the range of available values. If you would like to see the "Threshold Level Chart", please select the "+" sign, which is located above the threshold level 15 fields or please refer to the following table:

- Threshold Level: This value identifies the Threshold Levels supported.
- Number of Lines: This value specifies the number of lines provided in each Destination number (as listed on the Customer Record (CAD) or Template Record (TAD) pages in the TFNRegistryâ„¢ (tfnregistry.somos.com)) associated with each Threshold Level class 1 through 14. This value may be from 1 up to 9999. The threshold level 15 entry contains the word "Study". If the number of lines for a Destination number is not known, an option to consider is to enter 800 in order to prevent network management from prematurely initiating mass calling controls.
- Surveillance Threshold: This value may be from 50 to 19,990 and when the number of call routing queries reaches the denoted value within a 150 second window, automatic surveillance of the Toll-Free Number will begin. The automatic surveillance provides an early indication of potential congestion problems. The Surveillance Threshold must be less than the Control Threshold value for the same Threshold Level class. It is recommended that the Surveillance Threshold value be at least 100 below the corresponding Control Threshold value for the same Threshold Level class.
- Control Threshold: This value may be from 51 to 20,000 and when the number of call routing queries reaches the denoted value within a 150 second window, routing information will not be provided until the next 150 second window. The Control Threshold value must be greater than the entered Surveillance Threshold value for the same Threshold Level class.
If you would like to add additional notes or documentation, please select the "Continue" button to proceed to Step 3, or you can select the "Submit" button to complete the request.
In Step 3 of this request, please review your submitter information. If you wish to add notes or alternate contact information regarding this request, please utilize the space provided. Additional documentation may also be attached to the request. By authorizing this request, the submitter is certifying that they are the listed SCP O/O, or representative thereof, and authorize the MAS settings requested. Once you have completed the request, select the "Submit" button to send the request to the Help Desk for processing.
