The Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) process adds an additional layer of security to protect the TFNRegistry™ (formerly known as the SMS/800 TFNRegistry®) your account from unauthorized access and cyber attacks. In the MFA, a first level of authentication is performed with the username and password, while the second level of authentication is performed with the third-party application generated verification code. Primarily, you must install any third-party application on their mobile device like Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, OneLogin, etc., from the Google Play Store for Android devices or Apple App Store for iOS devices. The third-party application generates a 6-digit verification code that you must enter in the corresponding field of the TFNRegistry Login page while logging into your account. When both the username/password and 6-digit authentication processes are successfully validated, then you will be authorized to access your account.
You are not yet required to set up MFA for the TFNRegistry User Interface (UI) nor Application Programming Interface (API); however, this policy is subject to change. Please Note: As of June 5, 2022, if you have an API Key enabled on your Login ID (i.e. you do not log in with your Login ID and password) for the TFNRegistry API, you are required to set up MFA. For more information on how to set up and manage an API Key, please click here. Once MFA has been set up, if you need to, you can re-establish the connection between your third-party application and the TFNRegistry by regenerating a code on the User Control (URC) page.
Requirements:
- Third-party application installed on the mobile device.
- Account-specific email address (mandatory).
Please Note: Google Authenticator installed on an Android device is chosen as the third-party application to document the MFA set up process. For more information on how to setup MFA in the TFNRegistry, please click here, or here for a MFA Quick Start Guide.
