The Special Studies (SPS) function is used to sample traffic to a specific number, carrier or Service Switching Point (SSP) when a potential problem is suspected. The collection of data will end when the specified number of call attempts (range from 1-100) have been monitored, or when the specified time limit is reached. The time for the specified study can be from 1 to 168 hours (7 days). The TFNRegistry™ (tfnregistry.somos.com) shall support the Administrators and Service Control Point (SCP) Administrator’s ability to perform the following functions:
An Administrator can select the Special Studies for all the SCPs defined in the TFNRegistry (SCPs connected to Active CCS Networks), where as an SCP Administrator can select the Special Studies for only the SCPs of their CCS Network.
To access the SPS page, from the Landing page or from any page, you can select the Menu icon (in the upper left corner), the "Network and SCP Administration" menu item and then the "Special Studies (SPS)” sub-menu item. Once the “Special Studies (SPS)" sub-menu item has been selected, the sub-menu item will be highlighted and the SPS page will be displayed.

You can retrieve the Special Studies information using:
- 10-digit
- 6-digit
- Carrier
- SSP
If 10-digit is provided as input and Number Type is Toll-Free Number (TFN) then SCPs which are retrieved have SCP select indicator as “Yes” based on the Areas of Service (AOS) of the Active/Sending Customer Record (CAD) (also known as a CR) or Template Record (TAD) (also known as a TR) that is defined for the TFN.
If 6-digit is provided as input and Number Type is TFN then the SCPs are retrieved based on the NXX List that is defined for that NPA-NXX.
For other input types, all the SCPs (concerned CCS Networks which are Active) are displayed if you are Administrator and SCPs connected to the CCS Network of the SCP Administrator are displayed if the user is SCP Administrator.
