There are general guidelines for routing Guam, Saipan, and Samoa in the TFNRegistry (tfnregistry.somos.com) User Interface (UI). For additional information on how to access the TFNRegistry UI, please click here or to find your valid Carrier Identification Codes (CICs), please click here. If you encounter any issues, or need further assistance with this type of routing, please call or text the Help Desk at 844.HEY.SOMOS (844.439.7666), Option 1.
To allow Guam calls to complete, you can list Canada as part of the Area of Service (AOS) in the Basic Customer Record (CAD) (also known as a CR) portion of the CR page. However, blocking Guam/Saipan/Samoa calls may require alternative setup.
The general guidelines for routing GUAM/SAIPAN/SAMOA are as follows. If you are going to route (or block) the specific Guam/Saipan/Samoa NPAs (670,671,684) or LATAs (870,871,884) in the Call Processing Record (CPR) portion of the CR page, you have the following options available:
- Use the network codes of XA, XC or CN in the AOS of the CAD and then route or block them on the CPR. These network codes will allow Guam/Saipan/Samoa calls to go through. The specific Guam/Saipan/Samoa LATAs and NPAs can be used on the CPR in the same manner as any other LATAs or NPAs.
- Use the network codes of US or XB in the Area of Service of the CAD will not allow Guam/Saipan/Samoa calls to go through. The specific Guam/Saipan/Samoa or Canadian LATAs and NPAs cannot be used on the CPR. Also, the code of CR (Caribbean) listed alone in the Area of Service will not allow Guam/Saipan/Samoa calls to go through.
-
List the NPAs or LATAs specifically on the CAD for the AOS.
- If you list them specifically on the CAD, then you are not allowed to use the (mutually exclusive) network codes of US, XA, XB or XC. To block Guam/Saipan/Samoa (or route them differently than another branch of the CPR), define the Area of Service with the network codes of CR (Caribbean) and Guam/Saipan/Samoa LATAs = 884, 870, 871 (or NPAs = 684, 670, 671) and an ASL label with all “United States” state codes in it. A workaround is to setup the CAD Area of Service, please click here to view examples 2, 3, 6, and 7, and/or please click here to view examples 3, 4, 6.
- If one CIC is used for routing, please click here to view examples 6 and 7.
- If there is one IntraLATA CIC and one InterLATA CIC, please click here to view examples.
- If a CPR is not required and the Area of Service desired is Guam/Saipan/Samoa, the United States and the Caribbean, please click here to view examples 6 and 7.
- If a CPR contains Plain Old Telephone Service (POTS) numbers, it should be handled on a case by case basis.
