In Step 1 of the User Profile request you, a Primary Contact, Company Administrator and User Administrator, may create a new user by adding the new user’s information on the Somos® Portal Website (portal.somos.com). When viewing the fields on this page, the "Company Name" field is populated with your company name and the "Login ID (First 5)" field is populated with your Resp Org ID. If you are a Service Control Point (SCP), the "Login ID (First 4)" field is populated with your SCP ID. To create a new Resp Org "Login ID", enter a 3 character Login ID in the blank Login ID field titled, "Login ID (Last 3)". To create a new SCP "Login ID", enter a 4 Login ID in the blank Login ID field titled, "Login ID (Last 4)". The last 3 or 4 characters part of the Login ID commonly consists of the new user’s initials. For example: You can use the initials of their first, middle, and last name and/or a number (depending upon the company type) to create the specific Login ID.
Upon completing the add user request, the Login ID will be a combination of the Resp Org ID and entered Login ID or a combination of the SCP ID and entered Login ID. As an example, if your Resp Org ID is "ZAC01" and the entered Login ID is "ABC", the new Login ID will be "ZAC01ABC". If your SCP ID is "ZA01" and the entered Login ID is "ABCD", the new Login ID will be "ZA01ABCD".
The Alias field is optional; however, by completing the "Alias" field, the new user will have the additional option of logging into the Somos Portal Website with their preferred alias instead of the Login ID. Next, please enter the "First Name" and "Last Name" in the spaces provided. The new "Login ID" and user information will only be used for Somos. After entering the user’s name, the required address information is the user’s "Address", "City", "State/Province", "Zip Code" and "Country". These fields are populated with your company’s information. After completing the new user’s address information, please enter the new user’s "Email", "Phone" and an optional "Fax Number". A valid email address is needed and will be used to provide new passwords for the Somos Portal Website, statuses on submitted Somos requests and notifications. The Somos Portal Website will remember the sort order of lists contained within the Somos Portal Website. For example: It will remember your sorting selections on the Manage Users or Number Admin History pages. If you do not wish to have the Somos Portal Website remember the sort order, uncheck the box to the left of, "REMEMBER SORT ORDER".
Finally, please create a 4 digit numeric PIN to be used for security purposes when validating the user and unlocking or resetting their passwords. If at any time the new user forgets their password, they may request a new password be sent to their email address by verifying their PIN. Please provide any additional notes regarding the new user in the space provided. After completing all the required fields for the new user, select the "Continue" button to proceed with Step 2 of this request, "Website Permissions".
